傳統「粵港兩地牌」的逗留期限依據牌照類型（粵Z黑牌或FV金牌）而有所不同：

1. 粵Z 牌 (香港入出內地商務車)

• 進入內地逗留期限：原則上車輛每次進入內地後，須在 90 天（約 3 個月）內返回香港一次。
• 逾期後果：若在內地逗留超過 90 天未返港，在車輛年審時將面臨處罰，通常需繳納掛牌車輛市場價格 0.9% 的擔保金/罰款。
• 通行限制：車輛僅限在廣東省內及香港行駛，禁止駛出廣東省範圍。 

2. FV 牌 (內地入出香港商務車)

• 進入香港逗留期限：
  • 每次停留：每次進入香港最長可停留 30 天。
  • 年度累計：每年在香港累計停留時間通常不得超過 180 天。
• 通行範圍：與粵Z牌不同，FV 牌車輛可以在全中國大陸範圍內行駛，不受地域限制。 

最新優化措施 (2026年起)

由 2026 年 1 月 1 日起，運輸署已延長跨境車輛的「封閉道路通行許可證」（禁區紙）有效期，最長可達 60 個月（5 年），讓持證人無需每年辦理續期。

Depending on the type of permit or license plate you hold, the stay duration requirements for cross-boundary private cars are as follows:

1. Ad Hoc Quota (Shenzhen Bay)

• Stay Duration: Not more than 7 days per entry.
• Validity: The vehicle must return to Hong Kong via Shenzhen Bay Port within 7 days (including the day of departure and return).
• New Update (2025): Starting October 20, 2025, approved vehicles under this scheme are exempted from applying for a Closed Road Permit (CRP) for the designated roads leading to the border. 

2. Traditional Dual-Plate (Regular Quota)

• Yue Z (粵Z) Plates (HK to Mainland):
  • Stay Duration: Vehicles must re-enter Hong Kong via their home port at least once every 90 days.
  • Area: Restricted to travel within Guangdong Province only.
• FV/FU Plates (Mainland to HK):
  • Stay Duration: Maximum of 30 days per entry and a total of 180 days per year in Hong Kong. 

3. Northbound Travel for HK Vehicles (HZMB Only)

• Stay Duration: Up to 30 consecutive days per entry.
• Annual Limit: No more than a total of 180 days within a calendar year.
• Penalties: Overstaying either limit can lead to a 2-year suspension from applying for the scheme. 

4. Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles

• Stay Duration: A new scheme allows approved Guangdong vehicles to stay in Hong Kong for a maximum of 3 days per entry.
